The teams have met already in the CWS, with Florida destroying Miami 15-3 in an opening round game; Miami went on to eliminate Arkansas 4-3, while Florida lost 1-0 to Virginia.

Scheduled to start at pitcher for Florida is righthander Alex Faedo (5-1, 3.36 ERA); Miami will start righthander Enrique Sosa (7-4, 4.07 ERA).

We’ll provide live updates of the game here; refresh often for the latest update and join in the conversation in the comments section below.

Florida’s up and Schwarz walks to start the inning. Reed strikes out swinging. And…Boom! Yep, that’s another homerun for the Gators. Alonso homers to centerfield and the score now is 10-2.

Florida’s up to bat, and Guthrie flies out to left to start the sixth. Bader strikes out swinging. Martin hits a home run to left field (the third home run for the Gators on the night!). Tobias pops out to centerfield. But Florida does more damage, and it’s now 8-0.

Barr leads off the inning for the Hurricanes with a single to right field. Iskenderian hits a hard hit right over shortstop’s head and Miami now has two on. (There’s a pitching change for Florida, after Faedo had a great game. Lefthander Snead replaces him.) Runners advance on a wild pitch. Collins strikes out swinging. Thompson hits to shortstop and a throwing error scores two runs. Now 8-2. Kennedy pops out to left field, for the second out. A wild pitch advances Thompson to third. Heyward hits to shortstop for the third out.

Bader hits hard to left and slides into second for a lead-off double for the Gators. Martin bunts to a tough spot between pitcher and third base and there’s no play at first. Two on with no outs. Tobias hits right down the third base line, and is safe at first. Bader scores, and it’s 4-0. (Miami makes a pitching change, and Garcia replaces Suarez.) Schwarz flies out to center, and Martin tags up and advances to third. Reed bunts the squeeze, and Miami can’t make a play. Everyone’s safe, and Martin scores to make it 5-0. Alonso pops to centerfield for the second out. Vasquez hits a double hard into right field and scores two more in. Florida now leads 7-0. Rivera hits to centerfield for the final out.

Miami’s now up to the plate. Abreu strikes out swinging, and Lopez grounds out to second base. Eusebio grounds out to second base and Florida gets another 1-2-3 inning.

Florida starts with Vasquez getting out on a foul ball to left. Rivera strikes out for the second out. Guthrie hits hard to third, but is thrown out at first. (And Suarez, after having to come in earlier than expected, has settled in at pitcher and had a solid third and fourth inning.)

Miami starts with a beautiful hit to left field by Iskenderian, and he has a standup double. Collins strikes out looking. Thompson hits to third, and Tobias makes an excellent play as he initially kicks it but then throws out at first. Iskenderian advances to third. Kennedy walks. Heyward strikes out, and Faedo continues his good work at pitcher for Florida.

Schwarz pops to centerfield to start the inning for the Gators. Reed strikes out looking. Alonso grounds out to the second baseman. And that was a much-needed 1-2-3 for the Hurricanes defense.

Brandon Lopez hits to right, but it’s scooped for the first out. Eusobio walks, but it’s followed up by a hit to first base and he’s doubled up. Inning over.

There’s already a pitching change, as Andrew Suarez comes in for the Hurricanes. He retires the first on a grounder, and then strikes out Mike Rivera looking. Dalton Guthrie hits a blooper over the head of the shortstop for a single. Bader walks and there are two runners on base. Martin hits up the middle, and the Canes try to make an out at second but can’t get there. Bases are loaded. Tobias hits a hard hit to left field for the out, and Miami gets out of a big jam.

Zack Collins gets a leadoff walk for the Hurricanes, and there’s finally a baserunner. David Thompson strikes out (the fourth already for Faedo). Garrett Kennedy walks. Jacob Heyward hits to centerfield, but it’s caught and runners stay on their bases. Willie Abreu pops up to shortstop. Inning over.

How about that? Harrison Bader, the first batter, slams a homerun to centerfield to get the Gators up 1-0. Richie Martin grounds out to first base for the first out of the game. Josh Tobias does the same, grounding out to first. J.J. Schwarz hits hard through shortstop for a single. Buddy Reed gets himself a homerun too, and all of a sudden it’s 3-0 in the first inning. (And there’s action in the Miami bullpen already.) And there finally is the third out of the inning.

The Hurricanes are up to bat; let’s see if they can answer.

Ricky Eusebio is struck out to begin the game. Chris Barr is struck out by a beautiful slider thrown by Faedo. George Iskenderian strikes out as well, and the Florida pitcher strikes out the side. Not a bad start at all, especially if the Gators’ bats continue to stay hot.
