Update Your Nexus 6P’s Style With A Customized Wrap

Move over LG, it’s time to make room for Huawei. Haven’t heard of it? You’re not alone, as most people aren’t familiar with this Chinese manufacturer before getting their own Nexus 6P; but Google chose well, as the two companies have come together to create the latest in Android technology. The only down side to this great mobile phone? It’s housed in a rather uninspired design, looking like any other Android. If you want to match your 6P’s style to its specs, then you’ve got to invest in customized wraps.

aaa

A wrap has a lot to live up to, considering the long list of impressive specs that the 6P touts. Its 5.7 inch high resolution WQHD AMOLED display brings crystal clarity to pictures and videos. Its screen, coupled with its front-facing stereo speakers, makes the 6P perfect for passing the time, watching Netflix or playing your favourite game. And its Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 810 v2.1 processor and 6.0 Marshmallow OS lets you play all of your favourite apps seamlessly and without delay.

There’s a lot going on in the inside of your Nexus, but on the on the outside, your 6P is lacking in the looks department. Its all-aluminum build comes in only three muted colour options. Beyond the tell-tale ‘x’ of the Nexus and the dip where its fingerprint scanner is, you could easily confuse your Nexus for any other Android. It could be anyone’s black rectangle with a touchscreen. With a personality like yours, that just won’t do.

Luckily, vinyl wraps can enhance the style of your 6P without compromising its features, like a bulky plastic case would. The vinyl is cut with precision to the exact size and quality of your phone, accommodating its cameras, speakers, sensors, and ports while adhering to its corners, curves, and bezels. Similar to a sticker, it sits flush against the body of the phone but without any of the harsh glues that normally come with stickers.

Wraps can come in a variety of different looks that you can customize. While its adhesive underside clings effortlessly to your phone, the Nexus 6P wrap displays to the world your unique style. For some, that’s a simple black leather wrap that exudes modern sophistication. For others, it can get a bit wilder with true colours like red, orange, and blue mixing with textures like carbon fiber and faux-wood. If these designs are up to your fashion sense, check out the Nexus 6P wraps available at dbrand.com. With a variety of colours and textures that you can play around with, you’re bound to find the perfect wrap to display your personality. And their convenient build-a-wrap feature on their website takes all of the guess work out of your designs, as you can see what your chosen combination looks like on the 6P in real time.

Once you’ve created one in line with your tastes, you can finally have a personalized phone as unique as you are. Customized inside and out, your 6P won’t ever be confused for another’s. And it comes with the added bonus that these Nexus 6P wraps provide a layer of protection from the sharp and scary outside world, which means you can keep your 6P looking great for a lot longer than you’d expect! So get a Nexus 6P wrap today!

High Performing Notebooks Make Excellent Gifts For The University Student In Your Life

If it’s been years since your own university career, then don’t think you know what your child need in order to guarantee their success at school. Most likely you remember hitting the library and flipping through its card catalogue to start your thesis research, and you wrote your arguments out by hand before typing it up on the typewriter you shared with your roommates.

aaaa

Even if you’re a much more recent graduate – one who had their own computer, no less – your child is experiencing a completely different classroom. Forget about a physical catalogue; everything’s gone digital! Whereas your classmates were equipped with binders and pens to take their notes, your child’s cohorts are typing through their classes on laptops. If you want the brightest and most successful future for your child, you need to embrace the modern world and get them a powerful and portable notebook.

Modernity, and in this case technology specifically, has drastically changed education. Teachers have embraced peer-based instructing platforms to disseminate course work, readings, infographics, and notes to a plugged-in classroom. Their lectures are always accompanied by some sort of digital presentation (PowerPoint or otherwise) and some offer remote access via video to those students who can’t make it to campus. All of their digital offerings can only be accessed by a computer. Without one, your child could find themselves working against a huge disadvantage before the semester even truly begins.

At the very least, they need a laptop that will let them offer this modern world of education. But the computer you choose for your child should provide them with more than just the basics. As mid-terms, papers, and group projects start to pile up, their notebook should be able to handle every one of their tasks with ease. Notebooks offer powerful Intel® Broadwell performance that can multi-task high-energy applications, including those memory draining programs that visual design, architecture, and engineering students use. With NVIDIA Quadro K2100M graphics, HD LCD displays, and up to 32 GB of DDR3l 1600 Memory certain notebooks can provide premium graphics, clarity, and performance that you’d expect from a desktop

Mobility plays an important role in the modern student’s life, which is why a typical desktop is out of the question for your son or daughter. They need to be able to meet with their group project members or study buddies, and a desktop would instantly require all of their meetings to occur in their dorm room. When work can take them to the library, cafés, or the cafeteria, a notebook supports them whenever their workplace isn’t their desk. Slim, sleek, and ultra-lightweight, notebooks are made with the itinerant student in mind and can easily slip into a backpack or side bag. They also come with long-lasting battery life, which allows them to go anywhere that might not have a convenient outlet. These high-performing notebooks don’t skimp on anything in order to remain portable, and its USB, VGA, and HDMI ports make it easy for your child to share information and display presentations.

As the fall semester rolls to a close and you’re expecting your child home for the holidays, don’t make the mistake of thinking what was good in your day is sufficient for theirs. Skip the paper supplies and consider getting them a well-made notebook. Do your research, and look for those that can offer unprecedented battery life, mobility, and power for your child.

Of course, most manufacturers that can provide these features in their notebooks also have a huge range of powerful, time-saving, and fun devices that won’t just make the university student in your life happy and successful. Keeping this in mind, Toshiba electronics make great holiday gifts for everyone on your list, as there’s something for everyone. Students, entrepreneurs, and office workers alike will find use out of one of their premium notebooks and devices. Give the gift of performance and durability, and everyone – including your university student – will stay on top of their work.

5 Care Tips for a Greener Lawn

grass

Now that spring is officially here and things are starting to thaw out, it’s time to evaluate your lawn situation. Here are 5 ways to make sure that your lawn stays the healthiest it can.

Don’t over-fertilize. It can be easy to think that the more fertilizer you use, the healthier your grass will grow. In fact, too much of one of fertilizer’s main ingredients, nitrogen, can actually burn grass. Fertilize just twice a year, in the spring and fall. Plus, make sure you get the right formulation for your grass and soil type.

Rake your lawn. Raking isn’t just for fall. Once the snow has melted and the ground is dry, lightly running a rake over your lawn will dislodge the dead grass and make more room for new growth.

Mow at the right time of day. Surprise—there is a right time of day to mow your law. In the morning, dew weighs grass down, making it difficult to cut. In the warmer months, though, noon is also a bad time to mow. The heat combined with cutting can stress your lawn. Instead, cut grass in the late afternoon and evening.

Let your grass grow. The longer the grass, the deeper the roots, and the deeper the roots, the hardier your grass will be against problems like droughts, pests, and diseases. So keeping your grass slightly higher than usual may actually make for a lusher lawn.

Don’t water every day. Watering too often and for too short a period of time encourages grass to grow shallow roots, meaning that they’ll need to be watered frequently to survive. Instead, water just once or twice a week for about an hour in the morning or evening, to give the water the best chance at penetrating deep into the soil.

5 Improvements That Could Hurt Your Home Sale

home-repairs

Unless you’re planning to stay in your home for years and years to come, there are some improvements that you’d be better off not making.

Here are five you might want to reconsider:

Adding a swimming pool. If you and your family are pool people, then that’s great—but don’t assume all potential buyers will be, too. Pools require a lot of maintenance, and families with young children are often wary of the liability.

All this goes double for above ground pools. They have all the same troubles as in-ground pools without any of the aesthetic pluses.

Going too upscale. Believe it or not, it is possible for your home to be too nice. For instance, if the average home in your neighborhood is worth around $100,000 and your improvements put yours into the $200,000 range, then your house may end up sitting on the market for longer than you anticipate. That’s because the people who can afford your area can’t afford your house, and those who can may prefer to buy in a more upscale area.

Converting a garage. If you aren’t too bothered about parking your car outside, it may seem like a smart idea to convert all that unused space into an additional living area. However, most realtors will tell you this is a bad idea. In the suburbs especially, most buyers expect a functional garage and will rule out properties without one.

Expect other converting projects—like converting a spare bedroom into a walk-in, master bedroom closet—to produce much the same result.

Expanding your driveway. Many people dig up part of their front lawn to make room for more cars. This may make your life easier, but when it comes time to sell, don’t be surprised if you run into some issues. Not only is it expensive to remove, but it’s generally considered an eyesore to the people not doing the parking.

Extensive landscaping. It is, however, possible to go too far in the other direction. Elaborate landscaping looks nice, and it may even initially attract buyers, but don’t be surprised if they balk at the upkeep. Your best bet? Keep things simple and neat.

Remove Common Carpet Stains with These Tips

remove-carpet-red-wine

No carpet stays pristine forever. If yours is even a couple years old, odds are pretty good that it already has a few battle scars from its war with reality.

First, it’s important to outline the basic removal techniques. When the spill is fresh, blot at it with a cloth or paper towel, working from the outside edges in. Rinse with clean water or the solution best suited to the stain. Try to avoid scrubbing the carpet. This can actually damage the fibers, or force the spill even deeper into the carpet.

Beyond that, your removal strategy will depend on the substance spilled. Here are some of the most common:

Wax. If you spill a candle, it’s not the end of the world. There are two options for getting wax out of your carpet. First, you use ice to freeze it, and then shatter it with a spoon. The other option is to cover the wax with a paper towel or two, and then take an iron (set just on warm) and run it over the paper towel. This melts the wax, transferring it to the paper.

Pet mishaps. There’s nothing worse than cat or dog urine in your carpet. Before you get your bucket full of cleaners, though, blot up as much of the liquid as possible. Next, mix a solution of one part white vinegar to one part water and spray the area. Allow it to soak for a few minutes, then blot.

If the spot still isn’t completely clean, you can try a detergent and water solution (1/4 a teaspoon of a clear dishwashing liquid with one cup of warm water). Apply, blot, rinse with warm water, and repeat if necessary.

Wine (and other beverages). A similar technique will get you through most beverage spills, be they wine, coffee, or juice. Start by spraying the detergent solution above. Wait for a few minutes to give the detergent time to do its job, then blot. Next, rinse with water or the vinegar solution (vinegar will remove the detergent even better than water alone). Blot as necessary, or lay a stack of paper towels over the stain and apply pressure. This will help lift a bad stain.

Repeat this process for as long as you see the stain lightening.

4 Ways to “Remodel” on the Cheap

Remodeling

Between the money and time commitment involved, a full-scale remodel sometimes just isn’t practical. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to hold off on sprucing up your home.  There are plenty of ways to make a room feel different without breaking the bank, or asking your contractor to move in. Here are 4 suggestions:

Get a new storage system

You’d be surprised what a difference organization can make—not only does it help keep your rooms clutter-free, but having a better system often gives you the ability to make the most of the space you have, or even of space you didn’t knew you had.

So whether it’s the hall closet or the cabinets under the bathroom sink, a new or custom storage can make your room seem bigger and more open.

Paint

A fresh coat or two of paint is one of the most cost-effective ways to transform a room. Old paint—or the wrong color of paint—can make a room feel dingy or dark. Try to go for lighter, neutral shade to brighten things up.

Change out the hardware and fixtures

Fixtures and hardware can make a surprising amount of difference. Whether they’re dated-looking or just plain old, replacing your faucets and shower fixtures can help update a bathroom. The same goes for light fixtures, especially in high-traffic rooms like bathrooms and kitchens.

Change the lighting

Not all rooms get tons of natural light, so if your current set-up is leaving your room looking dark or cramped, try rearranging your lamps or even adding one. You could also try hanging a decorative mirror–they reflect light, and make a space feel more open.

Five Tips to Increase Your Home’s Value

Real estate

Like most people, you’ll probably buy several houses over your lifetime. And with each sale, you anticipate walking away with a profit, but this doesn’t always happen.

Home values in the neighborhood can depreciate, and if your equity takes a hit, this affects the resale value of your property. Fortunately, there are several things you can do while living in the home to gradually increase your home’s value.

 1. Update the bathrooms and kitchen

An ugly, outdated bathroom and kitchen can pull down your home’s value. Additionally, since it takes more money to renovate these spaces, potential buyers might pass on your property. Rather than wait until you’re ready to sell to give these rooms attention, make gradual improvements over the years. You’ll not only make your home more attractive, but also increase your property’s value.

For a bathroom makeover, you can replace linoleum flooring with ceramic or porcelain tile. Replace vanities and outdated countertop, and update fixtures, faucets and redo the tub.

The same rules apply in the kitchen. Updated cabinets, countertops, flooring and fixtures, as well as newer, matching appliances will get a buyer’s attention and boost your resale value. On average, a kitchen or bathroom remodel offers 168 percent return on the investment.

 2. Increase square footage of the home

Increasing the square footage of your house also adds value. If you don’t have the cash flow for a room addition, make better use of the space you already have. For example, convert an attic to a bedroom or office, or finish your basement and transform this space into a family rec room, which offers a 75 percent return on your investment.

Even if you can’t add square footage, you can visually make your home bigger. Remove clutter and oversized furniture, or knock down a wall between rooms on the first level to create an open floor plan.

 3. Curb appeal

It’s important to make a first impression. If the outside of your house is dirty and cluttered, some buyers might refuse to step foot inside — despite the fact that your property might be the most beautiful home on the block. If buyers can’t see past your exterior, they might never know the treasure that lies inside. Plant bushes and flowers, mow and edge your grass, pull weeds, and make sure doors and shutters are painted and clean. Landscaping can increase your property value by as much as 20 percent.

 4. Make the home energy efficient

When an appraiser walks through your house, he’ll look at the quality of your appliances, windows and doors. And unfortunately, if your house isn’t energy-efficient, it’ll lose value. To add value, replace your windows and doors with energy-efficient alternatives so your HVAC system doesn’t have to work as hard. Also, look for energy-efficient appliances which use less water and energy.

 5. Neutral home decor

You might be comfortable with your home decor. However, if your personal taste is very unique, your home decor might turn off some homebuyers and lower the value of your property.

Before listing your house, redo any rooms that reflect too much of your personal style. For example, repaint colorful, bright walls with a neutral tone. These changes might turn your eclectic-designed home into something boring, but it’s important for potential buyers to see themselves living in the property, which might be hard if there’s too much of “you” in the space.
