Preparing for AIPMT 2016

AIPMT is India’s largest medical examination. It’s held all across the country. It’s conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). It’s held every year so ofcourse you are going to see AIPMT exam 2016 too.

Cracking the exam gets you admitted to MBBS and BDS courses. The AIPMT exam has changed drastically over the years. Let’s take a look at what has evolved.

AIPMT Exam 2016: – The Evolution

No doubt the AIMPT examination in 2016 is going to be held too, and it has certain rules regulations and requirements. But it was not always like this, right?

AIPMT has gone under drastic changes over the years.

AIPMT was not always a “two level” test. This was introduced around 2010. From then on, the test was divided into two parts, the AIPMT Prelims, and the Mains.

If you qualified the Prelims, you could appear in the Mains and then if you qualified that too, you were selected. So this was something introduced around 2010.

A major change came again in 2013, when the exam was almost totally dissolved, meaning AIPMT was replaced by National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, and this was the examination responsible for getting you admitted in the MBBS or BDS courses.

But that didn’t exactly work out for the government and the country, so in 2014, the exam was brought back to life, it was named AIPMT again, and it’s lets you compete for 15% of the countries seats for MBBS and BDS examinations.

AIPMT Exams 2016: – How is it Now?

Well that was how it came into “being” what it is now, right? But what exactly is it now? So let me give you a sneak peak of what you can expect if you’re going to be appearing in the AIPMT exam 2016.

The AIPMT exam 2016 will be conducted on a single level. Meaning no Prelims or mains exist, there’s just one single exam you have to clear, and that would get you admitted to the MBBS or BDS courses.

The exam is most probably held on the first Sunday or May. Yeah, for no absolute reason, but that’s like the AIPMT tradition.

Earlier the examination consisted of 200 marks, well now it’s reduced to 180. The examination is still divided into three parts, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Each question on the paper consists of 4 marks, so that’s an overall of 720 marks for you. The exam lasts 3 hours, and well the negative marking? It still exists, although it has evolved over the years too.

Now, instead of deducting 1/3rd of your marks, just 1 mark from your overall score is deducted if you make a wrong choice. Not sure about an answer? Just leave it blank, it’s better to leave it blank than to risk loosing a mark, as nothing would be deducted if you don’t answer a question.

And ofocurse, if you try to act smart and choose more than one answers for a question, that’s taken as a wrong answer, and one mark is deducted again from whatever you score in the total.

Final Words:-

So yeah that was about the History and Evolution of AIPMT exams 2016 and how it came into being. No doubt it’s one of the most prestigious examinations of the country because the job placements are pretty good.

But keeping the fact in mind that it’s conducted only for 15% of the total seats, and that it’s conducted in the whole nation, the competition is extremely high so you can’t, just can’t not be serious about it.

There are absolute chances of the AIPMT exams 2016 being changed again in 2017 or the near future, because that seems like the fate of AIPMT, but as far as 2016 is concerned, you’re safe, totally safe, and it’ll be conducted exactly as this article says.
