Why is Android the leading platform in online gambling?

In a previous article we’ve taken a look at the share of mobile operating systems among those engaged in online gambling in one form or another. The numbers are clear: they show that online gambling is much more popular among Android users, which leads with 64%, Apple trailing behind in the stats with a much smaller percentage. But, aside from their preference for an open mobile platform, what makes Android users the leading consumers of mobile casino games?

The rules are different

The numbers don’t lie: Android is clearly the leading mobile operating system. It’s also the more restrictive: the rules of the Google Play Store don’t currently allow the listing of real money online games. This means that there are no native Android apps available for those who want to play the games at Vegas Palms Mobile on the go – they have to make do with the mobile browser version of the casino. Not that this would be a problem: the Vegas Palms Mobile is a great cross-platform solution, with more than 100 games for its players to explore.

Compared to Google, Apple is much more permissive. A few years ago it has eliminated its restriction on listing real money betting apps, so all major gambling businesses launched their native iPhone solutions – to a great success. While this might sound like a reason for Apple’s platform to be a market leader when it comes to mobile casinos, betting shops, and poker rooms. But it’s not – and this has nothing to do with policies.

It’s a matter of the market

Android might be the market leader on a global scale, but iOS rules supreme in the US. And that happens to be the country with the strictest anti-online gambling laws in place. This means that players from the US are not allowed to play at the Vegas Palms Mobile, and the Vegas Palms Mobile is not allowed to accept players from the United States. US players that visit https://www.vegaspalmscasino.com/casino-games/slots/ will see the games, will be able to try them free, but they won’t be able to register an account at the casino, and play its games for real money.

In Europe, where players are free to play at the Vegas Palms in most countries, iOS has a smaller market share – and Android is the mobile platform that dominates the market. Thus, when it comes to online gambling, iOS will always trail behind Android. And the difference between the two will be widened by the better availability of affordable Android phones in most regulated markets as well.

EA Explains FIFA 17 Player Ratings

EA Explains FIFA 17 Player Ratings
FIFA 17’s player ratings are determined by 9,000 data reviewers
These include coaches, scouts, and season ticket holders
The league a player is in also determines his rating
FIFA 17 might not have had the warmest of critical receptions but that rarely dampens the series’ commercial success.

This year appears to be no different what with retailers selling copies early. One hot topic of discussion around EA Sports’ footie franchise is how player ratings are calculated. How does the company judge and rank players, giving them a number to represent their skills, abilities, and intelligence among other attributes?

According to EA Sports producer Michael Mueller-Moehring it begins with some guesswork.

“We guess a little bit … until our people have seen the player in action,” Mueller-Moehring said to ESPN.

This is followed by 9,000 data reviewers – a group consisting of professional scouts, coaches, and season ticket holders, chiming in. They watch matches in person for most part and provide feedback on players through a secure website.

It’s a subjective take on each player, of which 18,000 are in action. The reason for this approach is because the statistics EA needs doesn’t exist.

“We have many leagues in the game; no stats provider could offer us data for all these leagues, teams and players,” Mueller-Moehring said. “This is also the reason why we use this online database, because it’s not possible to buy this data some way — it just doesn’t exist.”

Furthermore, the numbers tell only half the story. Mueller-Moehring stresses on the context of how these numbers come to be.

“The stats are, in most cases, not taking into account very specific circumstances,” he says. “When you look at passing completion, if you play for Bayern Munich or if you play for Manchester City or if you play for Pep Guardiola, if your system is based on possession, you will have more successful passes than other players, but this doesn’t necessarily make you a better passer.

“And when you look at attributes like trapping and ball control, there is data, but the data never gives you the specific situations. Same for tackling.”

Also of importance is the league a player is in.

“If Messi were playing in the Irish league, his attributes would drop simply because he’s not on the highest level anymore,” he said. “We want to base our ratings on actual performance data.”

FIFA 17 is out officially in India on September 29, although it’s been readily available for the last couple of days at brick and mortar stores across the country via parallel imports.

Earlier reports claimed smartphone will be named ‘Mi Note S’
Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone, expected to be launched at company’s event on Tuesday, is becoming a mystery with each passing day. Some reports recently claimed that smartphone named ‘Mi Note S’ will be launched at company’s event on Tuesday instead of earlier rumoured Mi 5s. Now, it seems like rumours are laid to rest as the company has shared the pictures taken from the smartphone termed by company as ‘Mi 5s’, while the company’s MIUI forum also contains a thread created by a moderator with the name.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has shared sample pictures taken from Mi 5s on his Weibo account. Xiaomi further shared some more sample pictures taken from the smartphone on its MIUI thread. The company has further said that the smartphone will have a ceramic body and will also carry a fingerprint scanner. The company has not clarified whether Mi 5s will be available in glass and ceramic variants just like its smartphone Mi 5 or not.

You can check out the pictures in their original resolution over here.

The company has been constantly teasing the power and features of its upcoming smartphone as it released a teaser image last week that showed an impressive AnTuTu benchmark score of 164,119 by the the smartphone.
Xiaomi, interestingly, released the teaser image shortly after launch of LeEco Le Pro 3, which scored 163,544 in the benchmark test.

As per an earlier rumour, Xiaomi could also unveil a smaller 4-inch variant of the Mi 5s at its event.

Xiaomi earlier teased a vertical dual-camera setup on the smartphone as well. Mi 5s is expected to sport a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display. The smartphone is further expected to be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU paired with 6GB of RAM. Mi 5s is pegged to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 on top.

Reliance Jio Effect: Vodafone Cuts Rates of Postpaid 4G Data Plans, Starting With Mumbai

Reliance Jio Effect: Vodafone Cuts Rates of Postpaid 4G Data Plans, Starting With Mumbai
Vodafone cuts its rates across 4G postpaid plans
2GB of 4G data will now cost you Rs. 350 in Mumbai
Vodafone launched its product Flex last week
Reliance Jio’s entry has certainly brought the country’s telecom companies into action. Even though Vodafone claimed that it was trying to serve a larger spectrum of audience with its product Flex last week, it has revised its 4G postpaid tariff plans to counter the competition, starting with Mumbai.

As per the new postpaid data plans in Mumbai, 2GB of 4G/3G data will cost you Rs. 350 (instead of Rs. 450 earlier), 3GB of 4G/3G data will cost you Rs. 450 (Rs. 650 earlier), 5GB of 4G/3G data will cost you Rs. 650 (instead of Rs. 850 earlier), 6GB of 4G/3G data will cost Rs. 750, 7GB of 4G/3G data will cost Rs. 850, 10GB of 4G/3G data will cost Rs. 999, and 15GB of 4G/3G data will cost you Rs. 1,499, and 20GB of 4G/3G data will set you back by Rs. 1,999.

Interestingly, commenting about the competition from Reliance Jio at company’s Flex launch event last week, Vodafone India’s Commercial Director Sandeep Kataria said, “India has a very large spectrum of people, about 95 percent, who don’t have a 4G phone.” He further said that Vodafone Flex is meant for a wider audience. “We are not new entrants. We have to look after not 5 million or 10 million subscribers; we have to look after 200 million subscribers,” he said.
It will be interesting to see how different telecom companies tackle the competition from Reliance Jio and if they are able to maintain quality while offering better rates for their plans.

A rightly adapted steroid cycle will provide the most benefits of the steroids

For getting maximum benefits from the steroids you need to maintain a rightly charted steroids cycle. Simply speaking, a steroid cycle is the combine doses of different anabolic steroids for a specific time period and again restarting another period of doses of those steroids after a time gap. It is known to the users that anabolic steroids are good for them as long as these steroids are used systematically and other allied matters are rightly maintained. For a professional body builder and the athletes, maintaining right dietary habit and strict practice regimen is necessary, along with a right steroid cycle to perform at their best.

Cutting stack

Whether you are practicing hard for an upcoming bodybuilding contest, or to participate and win in all the events in the upcoming athletic competitions, you need to plan well to fix a cycle for the most important steroids you need during strict exercise regimen. But, for your Cutting stack, you need to rely on an expert or your trainer, who have years of experience in this matter. Normally, the steroids included in a cutting stack need to be highly effective for your body, and which are suitable for your current over all development. Cutting stack is designed in such a manner that the steroids provide the best results with the help of each other.

Steroids cycles

As said previously, an anabolic steroid cycle is simply the period for which the anabolic steroids are being used. This period of using the steroids is also referred to as “On-Cycle” and the period of rest, i.e. the steroids are not in use is referred to as “Off-Cycle”. Experts have designed countless stacks for on-cycle phase. For your purpose, you can refer to any of these stacks that resemble to your needs. Otherwise, for your cutting stack you can consult an expert.

Ideal steroid cycles

Characteristics of human body vary from person to person. As the metabolism differs, the effectiveness of the steroids differs remarkably. So, there is practically no ideal steroid cycles for the athletes, body builders or general people who want to build lean muscle and stay fat free. However, what type of cutting stake is suitable for you fundamentally depends on how long you are exercising and whether you are habituated with the steroids or not. There are three stages in designing anabolic steroid cycles –

  • Novice to intermediate stage – This is the stage when you have successfully completed some cycles and you are practicing hard to improve your performance. This stage you need a little more stacks to improve your performance further. That is, you are entering from the novice to intermediate stage.
  • Intermediate to advanced stage – During this time, you are quite habituated with the cycles and you are performing quite proficiently. The stacks used in this period build your muscles and enhance your performance. For most of the athletes, cycle used during this period is just sufficient to enhance their muscle capacity even further.
  • Above advanced stage – Experts recommends certain cycles with highest possible doses to too few body builders. Sometimes, these cycles are risky too.

With tons of anabolic steroids, and peptide hormones etc. available in the market, there are truly countless possible stacks. These options are so vast that you will find different attributes and themes in every stack and cycle. However, steroid users find certain stacks are suiting their body better than the other stacks and cycles.

Facebook Inflated Key Video Advertising Metrics for 2 Years

Facebook Inflated Key Video Advertising Metrics for 2 Years: Report

  • Facebook inflated video advertising metrics by between 60 and 80 percent
  • The company did not include views that lasted less than three seconds
  • Facebook is fixing the issue by introducing two new metrics

Facebook may have angered a lot of ad buyers and marketers. According to a recent report, Facebook grossly overestimated the average viewing time for video ads on the social networking site for two years.

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, an ad buying agency was told by Facebook that it overestimated average time spent watching videos by between 60 percent and 80 percent. The reason behind this was that Facebook did not include views that lasted less than three seconds thereby inflating the average viewing time.

Facebook posted on its ‘Advertiser Help Centre’ that it was introducing a new metric to fix the problem. The company explained that the old metric only took into account views of more than three seconds.

“We recently discovered an error in the way we calculate one of our video metrics,” Facebook said in a statement. “This error has been fixed, it did not impact billing, and we have notified our partners both through our product dashboards and via sales and publisher outreach. We also renamed the metric to make it clearer what we measure. This metric is one of many our partners use to assess their video campaigns.”

This statistical misinformation is likely to affect ad buyers and marketers who have been misguided by the social networking giant. The data is used by media companies and publishers to help determine the type of content to post. The overestimation will have likely hidden the actual performance of video advertising to marketers for the past two years.

Facebook is fixing the issue by introducing two new metrics:

Video Average Watch Time: the total watch time for your video, divided by the total number of video plays. This includes plays that start automatically and on click. This will replace the Average Duration of Video Viewed metric.

Video Percentage Watched: reflects the percentage of your video somebody watches per session, averaged across all sessions of your video where the video auto-played or was clicked to play. This will replace the Average Percentage Video Viewed metric.

The overestimation is particularly disconcerting given Facebook’s influence in social media advertising. The company has been focusing more on videos in recent years, pushing video-related content to the top of users’ feed, especially live video. We’ll have to wait and see if Facebook’s new metrics can undo the damage that’s already been done.

iOS 10 Backups Can Be Cracked 2,500 Times Faster Than iOS 9, Claims Security Researcher

iOS 10 Backups Can Be Cracked 2,500 Times Faster Than iOS 9, Claims Security Researcher

  • Researcher claims security check in iOS 10 is 2,500 times weak than iOS 9
  • Elcomsoft says brute force attack can be carried on iOS 10 backups
  • New attack specific to password-protected local backups in iOS 10 devices

A security research company based in Moscow claims to have discovered a flaw in Apple’s local password protected iTunes backups in iOS 10, a flaw that is said to weaken password security. According to ElcomSoft’s Oleg Afonin, the security flaw lets attackers develop a new attack that can bypass certain security checks when tallying passwords protecting local backups in iOS 10 devices.

“The impact of this security weakness is severe. An early CPU-only implementation of this attack (available in Elcomsoft Phone Breaker 6.10) gives a 40-times performance boost compared to a fully optimised GPU-assisted attack on iOS 9 backups,” writes Afonin.

Further detailing implementation of the attack, Elcomsoft claims that the new security check in iOS 10 is roughly “2,500 times weaker” compared to the one used in iOS 9 backups.

“Specifically they have changed from pbkdf2(sha1) with 10,000 iterations into using a plain sha256 hash with a single iteration only. This not only allows for a massive speed increase in password cracking, the change is so devastating that an early CPU-only cracking implementation is almost 40 times faster than a fully optimised GPU implementation for the old pbkdf2 version,” writes Per Thorsheim, Security Adviser at God Praksis AS.

It’s worth mentioning that the flaw discovered cannot be exploited remotely and needs the attacker to have access of the local backups in iOS 10.

Elcomsoft claims that brute force attack, which is a trial and error method used to decode encrypted data such as passwords, can only be carried on iOS 10 backups.

“This new vector of attack is specific to password-protected local backups produced by iOS 10 devices. The attack itself is only available for iOS 10 backups,” notes Elcomsoft. The research firm however points that the “new” password verification method exists in parallel system as well with the “old” method though it doesn’t affect the earlier versions.

Internet Now Has 334.6 Million Domain Name Registrations

Internet Now Has 334.6 Million Domain Name Registrations: VeriSign

Nearly 7.9 million domain name registrations were added to the Internet in the second quarter of 2016 globally – a growth rate of 2.4 percent over the first quarter – global domain and internet service provider VeriSign Inc. said on Wednesday.

It brings the total number of domain name registrations to approximately 334.6 million across all top-level domains (TLDs) as of June 30 this year, according to the latest Domain Name Industry Brief.

The .com and .net TLDs experienced aggregate growth in the second quarter of 2016, reaching a combined total of approximately 143.2 million domain name registrations in the domain name base. This represents a 7.3 percent increase year over year.

New .com and .net domain name registrations totalled 8.6 million during the second quarter of 2016. In the second quarter of 2015, new .com and .net domain name registrations totalled 8.7 million.

“During the second quarter of 2016, Verisign’s average daily Domain Name System (DNS) query load was approximately 130 billion queries per day across all TLDs operated by Verisign, with a peak of nearly 179 billion queries,” the company said in a statement.

Quarter over quarter, the daily average query load increased 4.9 percent and the peak decreased by 5.0 percent. Year over year, the daily average query load increased by 17.0 percent and the peak decreased by 1.5 percent.

Taiwan Asks Google to Blur Images Showing New South China Sea Facilities

Taiwan Asks Google to Blur Images Showing New South China Sea Facilities

Taiwan’s defence ministry said on Wednesday it is asking Google to blur satellite images showing what experts say appear to be new military installations on Itu Aba, Taipei’s sole holding in the disputed South China Sea.

The revelation of new military-related construction could raise tensions in the contested waterway, where China’s building of airstrips and other facilities has worried other claimants and the United States.

The images seen on Google Earth show four three-pronged structures sitting in a semi-circle just off the northwestern shoreline of Itu Aba, across from an upgraded airstrip and recently constructed port that can dock 3,000-ton frigates.

“Under the pre-condition of protecting military secrets and security, we have requested Google blur images of important military facilities,” Taiwan Defence Ministry spokesman Chen Chung-chi said on Wednesday, after local media published the images on Itu Aba.

The United States has urged against the militarisation of the South China Sea, following the rapid land reclamation by China on several disputed reefs through dredging, and building air fields and port facilities.

Taiwan’s defence ministry and coast guard, which directly oversees Itu Aba, said details about the structures are confidential and have not commented on their nature.

Google, a unit of Alphabet Inc, did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the request.

Defence experts in Taiwan said that based on the imagery of the structures and their semi-circular layout, the structures were likely related to defence and could be part of an artillery foundation.

“I think definitely it will be for military purposes, but I cannot tell if it is for defending, attacking or monitoring,” said Dustin Wang, a scholar and a former government advisor who has regularly visited Itu Aba.

Wang said given the structures’ location which faces the main seaborne traffic, they may relate to surveillance.

China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Brunei claim parts or all of the South China Sea, through which trillions of dollars in trade passes.

In July, an international court ruled against China in a case brought by the Philippines that rejected China’s claim to a vast swathes of the disputed maritime area. Both China and Taiwan, which China views as a renegade province, vehemently rejected the court ruling.
