Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s shimmer gown is a beauty but she manages to ruin the look; here’s how

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a real beauty and probably that’s the reason why she can pull of almost anything with ease, even if the styling is not really commendable. Such is the case with her latest appearance at Manish Malhotra’s residence where she attended a party organised by the ace designer to celebrate his good friend, Sridevi’s birthday.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Manish MalhotraThe Ae Dil Hai Mushkil star stepped out in a lovely toga-inspired grey shimmer gown by Gaurav Gupta featuring an embellished neckline. If you ask us, the gown ticks all the right boxes for a simple yet elegant evening look and we would have been really happy with her choice for the soirée. But there’s a catch! Celebrity stylist Aastha Sharma who has worked with Aishwarya on a number of occasions, including Cannes 2017 red carpet, spoiled the look with a chainmail necklace. We wish she would have picked up something sleek in its place, it would have looked much better.

However, we can’t find any fault with her beauty game. Her face looked gorgeous as usual with her signature well-defined eyes, a bright red pout and cascading waves.

Jhanvi and Khushi Kapoor continue their glamorous streak at Sridevi’s birthday bash

Sridevi’s birthday is long gone, but the celebrations are still going strong and so are the glorious flashes of chic designer wears. For fashion connoisseurs like us, these are happy moments as the actor and her daughters are considered as the best dressed celebs in Bollywood. They have inspired us in the past and we hope that they will continue to do so. We still can’t forget the beautiful ruffled, Zimmermann number Jhanvi Kapoor stepped out in, on the night of Sridevi’s birthday on August 13. We immediately fell in love with the pastel print, silk dress with an asymmetrical hemline.

Festive Spirit

DESIGNER Lakme brought her A game to the runway of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter-Festive 2017 with a bridal collection that was chic, colourful and comfortable. Her love for colours and typical quirk intact, the fresh and feminine bridal line was inspired by the tribes of Madagascar and Himalayan waters. While the latter reference was a bit obvious given the sponsor of the show was mineral water brand, Himalayan Orchard Pure, there’s no denying that the collection, with its bright-coloured lehengas with pockets and corset-shirts worn with saris, had something for every taste and aesthetic.

The vibrancy of the shades of pink, blue, red and green brought the festive mood to the fore, contrasting well with minimal prints and simple cuts.

Lehengas were paired with off-shoulder blouses and bow tops, and sari-pants and slit dresses with pine motifs kept Masaba’s youth-centric vibe strong. Some of the most appealing pieces from the collection, which drew inspiration from face painting of Madagascar’s Sakalava tribe for prints, included a peach sari worn with a corset-shirt and a mint green bridal lehenga.

Later in the evening, the mood shifted from the buoyant to the ethereal even as the venue shifted to the iconic Royal Opera House for Sanjay Garg’s Grand Opening Night show “Cloud People”.

DESIGNER Masaba Gupta, Lakme Fashion Week, Winter-Festive 2017, Himalayan Orchard Pure, India news, fashion news, latest news, India news, National news Garg’s exhaustive collection, inspired by the angelic spirit, was both magnificent and imminently wearable. The line comprised dark tones of blue, red and gold with customary blacks and whites thrown in. Even though the line was high on grandeur and mystique, the wearability of the silhouettes came through the lightness of gossamer fabric. Garg introduced Chikankari embroidery for the first time, teaming it with Bengal mul, zardozi and hand-woven brocade. Angelic motifs and floral prints found their way on silhouettes such as evening gowns, capes, tops, skirts and pants.

The collection comprised pieces like the mint green long kurta with palazzo pants and a blue knotty dress. The outfit worn by showstopper Ujwala Raut was a let-down, overshadowed by better pieces in the collection. A haunting live opera performance lent an edge and mystique to Garg’s collection as well as transported the audience to a fantasy land. Thankfully though, the grand setting and splendid presentation didn’t overpower
the collection.

When Huma Qureshi gave us style inspiration in a beautiful plaid dress

Huma Qureshi might not always be a hot favourite of fashion enthusiasts, but this talented is actor is known for cutting a fine figure from time to time. We remember a few memorable looks where she looked drop-dead gorgeous. Our favourite is of the actor in a bright, cheery cold-shoulder yellow dress from Asos which she wore with a pair of fuschia pink earrings from Crimson. She also made quite an impact in a hi-low sleeveless dress and a light lemon yellow floor-length jacket from Ritika Mirchandani.

Now, the actor is back to make your hearts skip a beat in a lovely plaid number during the promotion of her upcoming film Partition 1947. Celebrity stylist Sanjana Batra picked up this asymmetrical dress from Vidhi Wadhwani and we are glad she did.

Huma QureshiThe off-shoulder bow sleeves with the soft sweetheart neckline gives it a feminine touch and the sharp silhouette gives it a nice edge. We like how she styled it with clear strap heels from Intoto, even though we would have preferred a plain black strappy pair.

The sideswept hairdo by celebrity hairstylist Sana Pathan looks gorgeous on Qureshi and her make-up by celebrity make-up artist Ajay Vishwasrao gives her ta beautiful glow. She looks lovely, won’t you agree?

There’s another outfit which we like a lot and we think the Jolly LLB 2 actor looks really elegant in it. The simple black maxi isn’t anything extraordinary but paired with the patterned blue longlayered cape, it looks wonderful on her.

Deepika Padukone’s colour-block shirt isn’t impressive at all, but her denims are way too cool

Looks like simple button-down shirts are a thing of the past now. We were still trying to get our heads around how to pair a deconstructed shirt but with fashion trends changing so often, we were presented with a new dilemma – on how to wear a colour-block shirt. In all fairness, if we would have spotted this dual-tone summer wear while out shopping, we would have never gone for it. But Deepika Padukone being the fashion chameleon she is, decided to add it to her wardrobe. She stepped out at the airport in a half gingham print and half pastel blue shirt and even though we applaud her for her sartorial experiment, it just failed to impress us.

Deepika Padukone However, she totally aced her denim game in the fanciest and coolest pair ever! The 70s-inspired flared jeans are having a huge moment right now and Padukone took it to the next level with this one – we love how it’s frayed at the ankles.

You can pair it with almost anything, starting from statement tees to tank tops and halter-necks – just make sure that your top isn’t baggy. You can complement your look like the Padmavati actor with a pair of Nike slides, minimum make-up, an updo and a pair of sunglasses.

This particular travel look isn’t our favourite but a couple of days back, she aced her airport style in basics.

Young designer brings child abuse, women trafficking issues on LFW ramp

Sumiran Kabir Sharma, one of the Gen Next designers at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter/Festive 2017, displayed a line-up that was more than just “beautiful dresses” here on Wednesday. Sharma, the creative director of the brand Anaam, says his line was inspired by the red light area of Sonagachi and he wanted to focus attention on social issues like child abuse and women’s trafficking through his clothes.

“That was a part of my inspiration and research… a lot of children and women are abused and trafficked, so we tried to bring that into… fashion… as a cause,” Sharma told IANS. He says that he will always cover social causes in his work.

“It’s an ethical collection and social causes are always a part of brand Anaam. Fashion is meaningful and it’s not just about wearing a beautiful dress and going out. If we can save… children from sexual abuse, then there is nothing like that,” he said.

Talking about how this idea came into being, he said it all happened with an accidental car ride. “My inspiration was Sonagachi. An accidental cab ride took me to this area and I was amazed to see women who were more like warriors. So I took that inspiration and brought in my clothes through soothing fabrics and textures,” he said.

Sharma has been doing his bit of social work with CRY and other small women-oriented NGOs. “We try and talk to children and explain what is a good touch and bad touch, and I feel for it,” he said.

Day one of LFW started with the Gen Next show, where apart from brand Anaam, four other brands showcased their designs. The other new faces were Akshat Bansal, Deepak Pathak, Shenali Sema N’ Rinzin Lama and Saaksha Parekh and Kinnari Kamat.

Kareena Kapoor or Jacqueline Fernandez: Who aced the lace?

She might be yet to actively begin working, but new mommy-in-town Kareena KapoorKhan continues to be at the top of the Bollywood fashion pack. After child birth while she is busy getting back in shape, Kareena has often given fashion goals while at it. But in the pictures from husband husband Saif Ali Khan’s birthday party, we just couldn’t help but be a bit disappointed.

She tied her hair into a sleek bun, which made it even worse because there was just too much bronzing and the contouring seem to have gone all wrong. This, coupled with the bad lighting of the camera made this one of her worst looks of recent times. It would have been relieving had Kareena gone for a marsala shade to add a stroke of colour to her look.

Showstoppers Sonal Chauhan, Sayani Gupta exchange compliments at LFW 2017

Bollywood actresses Sonal Chauhan and Sayani Gupta took a moment to compliment each other on the sidelines of the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter/Festive 2017 (LFW), which began here on Wednesday. Sonal and Sayani were the showstoppers for designers Sonal Verma and Shweta Kapur of the brand 431-88 respectively. During the post show conference, they were seen telling each other to keep the costumes that they were wearing.

lakme fashion week, lakme fashion week 2017, Sayani Gupta, Sonal Chauhan, bollywood fashionSayani told Sonal, pointing towards her kimono jacket: “The colour is so nice. It’s such a wonderful creation.” Sonal replied: “You should also keep this beautiful white glittery dress.”

Sayani, who was seen in films like Jolly LLB 2 and Fan, said her personal wardrobe is full of white clothes as she is obsessed with it. “I am obsessed with whites. During my recent trip to an international location, I came back realising that I bought everything white. Also, I am mad about shoes and sunglasses,” she said.

Karan Johar is the only Indian to own this Louis Vuitton bag; can you guess the price?

Karan Johar does not settle for anything less than extraordinary and the same applies to his collection of bags. The Bollywood director who has given us hits like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… and Student of the Year is known for living a flamboyant life. His love for shoes is well known, but over the last couple of months he has been obsessed with statement-worthy bags. We have seen him flaunt a couple of quirky ones while jet-setting off to exotic locales.

Karan JoharThe first one which caught our eyes was a Gucci tote with an embroidered angry cat face on it. We felt it was really quirky and a must-have, until we found the price of his prized possession. It cost a whopping Rs1.5 lakh, a budget that could easily fund a backpacking trip in Europe!

Priyanka Chopra stuns in this sheer black dress but fails to deliver in the white summery number

The last time we spotted Priyanka Chopra, she totally floored us with her drop-dead gorgeous appearance in a nude satin gown at the Manhattan set of her upcoming Hollywood film Isn’t It Romantic, co-starring Liam Hemsworth. The lovely number with a plunging neckline and a thigh-high slit, accentuated her curves perfectly. The beautiful actor – who is currently juggling two other projects, A Kid Like Jake, starring Jim Parsons and Claire Danes and Quantico – took some time out from her busy schedule to shake a leg with Jamie Foxx at Ron Perlman’s Apollo Fundraiser and much to our delight, she did it in style!

This gorgeous beauty was seen in a black sheer number with a plunging neckline and a dangerously thigh-high slit from Fendi. A diamond studded brooch pinned on the front added instant glamour to the look, but we think even without one she would have looked good – that is the beauty of the dress.

Priyanka ChopraShe complemented the look with black peep toe heels, her signature brown lip shade, soft make-up and gorgeously tousled hair.

On another occasion the actor was seen in a breezy, white flowy maxi with a plunging neckline. Three things about this look we like the most is her outfit, her burnt orange lip shade (something we would definitely want to get our hands on) and her beautifully done hair.
